Taylor Swift’s Dad Will Not Face Charges After Alleged Altercation With Australian Photographer – Rolling Stone

Taylor Swift‘s father, Scott Swift, will not face charges from the Australian police after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with a photographer in February.
Australian police issued a statement to officers on Tuesday that they had “conducted an investigation following a report of an assault,” and there would be “no further police action” taken, according to RTE.
Last month, photographer Ben McDonald accused Swift’s father of assault after he attempted to photograph the star near Sydney’s North Shore. Sydney police later confirmed that they were investigating the alleged incident.
In a statement to Rolling Stone at the time, a spokesperson for the star said of the alleged incident that two people were “aggressively pushing” to get to Swift, grabbed security, and threatened a member of the singer’s staff. “Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”

In footage obtained by the Daily Mail, Scott was seen walking out of the pier and toward a vehicle as a member of Taylor’s team asked the paparazzi to “step away from the vehicle” while blocking their view with an umbrella.
Scott and Taylor (who was hidden under a different umbrella) were then seen approaching the vehicle. As they entered the car, a person filming seemed to fall. “That wasn’t me, that wasn’t me,” a second person could be heard offscreen.

“She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces, and then he charged,” the photographer told the Daily Mail, calling Swift’s team’s statement “utter rubbish.”
Police told Rolling Stone that McDonald “did not require medical treatment” following the incident.
