Nearly one year post-breakup, Alwyn still reaps the benefits of their once-enchanting relationship. An insider source revealed this to the publication Life & Style,
“Fair or not, it’s made him a very rich guy,–Joe is making so much on royalties and returns from [Taylor’s] Eras tour that he doesn’t ever need to worry about money again.”
Joe Alwyn is recognized as a songwriter on multiple tracks from Taylor Swift’s albums, such as Exile and Betty from Folklore, Champagne Problems, Coney Island, Evermore from Evermore, and many more. His involvement in the process has also earned him a Grammy in 2021.
As per Life & Style magazine, the star has approximately amassed $2.3 million solely from Spotify streams till now. Additionally, the ongoing royalties from streaming platforms and Swift’s live performances also add to the list of things. The source also revealed that Swift is “furious” about this, and will get back at her ex with the upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, which is already speculated to give more insight into the Alwyn-Swift breakup by the fans.

“It was really the most accidental thing to happen in lockdown,–It wasn’t like, ‘It’s three o’clock, it’s time to write a song!’ It was just messing around on a piano and singing badly and being overheard and then thinking, you know, what if we tried to get to the end of it together?”
Alwyn, who wrote under the pseudonym William Bowery, spoke about why he chose to do so. He said,
“The idea was that people would just listen to the music rather than focus on the fact that we wrote it together.–it was fun to do it together, and I was proud of it. It was nice getting such a positive reception.”
