Lady Gaga spoke out against transphobic “vitriol and hatred” in a recent Instagram post, and defended a photo she took with trans celebrity Dylan Mulvaney. The photo, taken at a Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals event, was wrongly circulated as a picture commemorating International Women’s Day on March 9th.
Gaga expressed her disappointment in the “appalling” criticism she received, emphasizing that hatred should not be labeled as “backlash.” She acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the trans community and called for unity and acceptance.
Gaga has a long history of supporting the queer community, using her art and activism as platforms for change. Mulvaney is best known for her brief partnership with Bud Light on a social media campaign that led to a right-wing backlash against the brand.
