Like fans, Bradley Cooper's ex-wife too chimed in to address the dating speculations between him and pop icon Lady Gaga.
Prior to losing himself as the musical genius Leonard Bernstein in Maestro, Bradley Cooper starred as a similar figure alongside Lady Gaga in his directorial debut, A Star is Born. But the latter’s impact wasn’t limited to the silver screen, as apart from garnering several Academy nods following the film’s brilliance, it also sparked dating rumors between the two leads.
Following Gaga and Cooper’s impeccable chemistry in the film, it’s reasonable to see why many felt that way, and among those many, Cooper’s ex-wife also shared a similar sentiment on the matter.
While their relationship behind the screens remained deeply professional, this didn’t stop many from speculating that the two were indeed dating. Moreover, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s captivating rendition of Shallow at the 2019 Oscars further fueled these rumors. Even though the Maestro Star later clarified the performance was deliberately shaped to encapsulate the chemistry of Jack and Ally, fans didn’t stop shipping the two, and his ex-wife also chimed in.
Little is known about Jennifer Esposito and Bradley Cooper’s time together, who tied the knot within a year after being spotted together at the Golden Globes party in 2006. However, due to irreconcilable differences, the two parted ways just four months after their marriage, with Cooper later clarifying the two didn’t maintain a friendship.
But despite being distant, Jennifer Esposito did chime in to address the dating rumors between her ex-husband and the Joker 2 star in a strange but hilarious fashion. Responding to David Spade’s post, which involved a screengrab between Cooper and Gaga, with a caption reading, “Is there any chance these 2 aren’t f-cking?”, Esposito commented “Ha”.
While to fans’ dismay, things between Lady Gaga and Cooper were strictly professional, the two did go on to become great friends after collaborating on A Star is Born. Reflecting on their time together in his directorial debut, which fell inches short of earning the Guardians Star his first Academy win, the actor expressed that he found a friend for life in the pop icon. The actor further stressed that his friendship with Gaga, who was the director’s third choice to play Ally, was the most important thing he took away from the film. Cooper told People:
“I made a friend for life… As great as this movie was, the thing that I think I’ll take away forever is the relationship I have with her because she is an incredible person. I’m very lucky to have worked with her,”
The Joker: Folie à Deux Star shared a similar sentiment, as she commended the director for believing in her with the role, stressing she was blessed to be part of the film.
A Star is Born is available to stream on Max.
