Taylor Swift‘s sports era is still in full swing. The singer’s latest Reputation (Taylor’s Version) teaser comes by way of The Dynasty: New England Patriots, the 10-part Apple TV+ docuseries about the Boston football team. An upcoming episode of the series, premiering on Friday, will feature a first-listen to “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version),” according to People.
Swift is as much a star in the scene as Tom Brady, as former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola recalls the quarterback’s grand return following the 2015 NFL scandal known as “deflategate.” In the clip, as the song plays, Amendola narrates: “The king is back. Here he goes. Watch him get pissed off and go.”
Reputation arrived in 2017, marking Swift’s first album in three years. The era was inspired, both aesthetically and musically, by the scandal and drama she found herself embroiled in leading up to the record. Last year, the musician described the period as being a time when she was “canceled within an inch of my life and sanity.”
In The Dynasty: New England Patriots, ESPN columnist Howard Bryant frames Brady’s comeback similarly to that of Swift’s. He warned: “Don’t underestimate someone who’s got something to prove, somebody playing with a certain anger level, a certain fury, a certain need for recompense.”
“Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” first surfaced last summer in the teaser trailer for the Amazon Original Wilderness. The psychological thriller follows a British couple as they embark on an American road trip after the wife discovers her husband has been unfaithful in their marriage — their very own “Getaway Car.”
Swift has been subtly teasing Reputation (Taylor’s Version), but no official announcement has been shared.
