Lady Gaga sends fans into frenzy as clip from Joker 2 shows unexpected kiss with woman – The Mirror

Lady Gaga is set to star in the sequel for Oscar nominated film Joker as Harley Quinn and fans are going wild over a new clip that hints at the anti-hero’s characterisation
Fans have been champing at the bit for more information on the sequel to Todd Phillip's Joker from 2019 which gained an Oscar nomination for lead actor Joaquin Phoenix.
Pop icon and actress Lady Gaga has joined as the Clown Prince of Crime's love interest Dr Harleen Quinzel – better known as Harley Quinn. When the singer was cast, rumours of musical numbers and a more fantastical plot swirled.
A first look at Gaga in her Harley costume has already excited fans, but clips surfacing from the set have sent the internet into a frenzy as the Applause singer kisses a woman as she walks by protesters.

Harley Quinn has been popular in DC comics since her first appearance in 1992, but recent outings like the Kaley Cuoco animated series or the Birds of Prey film, where she is portrayed by Margot Robbie, have skyrocketed her cultural significance.
The character has been given more agency in recent times, removing her from boyfriend Joker's clutches and often exploring her queer identity and relationship with Poison Ivy, as in the animated series.
It's unknown whether Joker 2 will continue the trend of the emancipated Harley Quinn but fans got a hint of her bisexuality in a clip from set that shows Gaga kissing a woman – although not in the romantic sense.
Gaga as the anti-hero can be seen walking past a hoard of protesters as one woman shouts "you're going to hell", which stops Harley in her tracks, she turns and kisses the woman on the mouth.
Lip readers and devoted fans believe Gaga tells the woman "Now we're both going to hell" after the stunt.
The clip was met with a chorus of people calling the singer "mother" and excitedly tweeting "oh my gosh".
Little is known about Harley's role in the film although it is titled Joker: Folie á Deux, which means a madness of two in French.
It is thought the plot will focus on the aftermath of the first film, which documented Phoenix's Arthur Fleck falling deeper into madness and sparking a criminal movement.
Regardless of Joker 2's plot, fans are loving Gaga's performance already, with one saying: "Every single scene gagging me beyond expectations, I'm not ready for the film."
Another said: "This is for the little monsters, no doubts she's gonna serve" – little monsters are the name used for the Born This Way singer's fans.
"Omgg never seen her acting before but this looks good, I think I'll be seated," excitedly shared a third fan.
"This movie is gonna change lives (mine)," tweeted a fourth.
Joker: Folie á Deux is set to hit cinemas on October 4, 2024 – just in time for Halloween.
