Cardi B tries balut for the first time – GMA News Online

Cardi B had her taste buds try the Filipino delicacy balut, but she didn’t like it.
On TikTok, the American rapper shared a two-minute clip of her trying the famous Pinoy treat. 
Before eating, she added salt and lemon to the balut to enhance its flavor and proceeded to crack the egg with the back of a spoon while shouting in excitement. 
As she tried to sip the broth, Cardi squealed in disgust and said: “I’m just gonna hold my nose. Okay, let’s open it up.”
She then opened the balut, was surprised with the ingredients inside it, and decided to eat the yolk first.
“It’s so thick and hard, oh my God,” the “Wap” singer said. “I think I overcooked the duck.”
She dipped the yolk into the vinegar and put it in her mouth before spitting it out.
“No, I don’t like it. I don’t like it,” Cardi said, adding that the balut tasted like an “uncooked chicken.” 
She also said won’t rate the balut from 1 to 10. “I’m just gonna say it’s just not for me.” 
Despite this, Cardi said that she was “glad that she tried it.”
“Maybe I did it wrong, maybe I need to eat it from somebody [who] knows how to cook it,” Cardi added.
Balut is a Filipino street food made by boiling a fertilized duck egg with a partially developed embryo inside. It is believed that it is an aphrodisiac food that increases one’s libido.
According to nutritionist Ryan Moralde, there is no credible research to back up the claim that balut is an aphrodisiac. But balut does help when it comes to generating body heat.
A balut egg typically contains 359 mg of cholesterol, which exceeds the daily recommended 300 mg of the Food and Drug Administration. Too much consumption may lead to heart complications.
Despite balut ranking as the worst egg dish in the world in 2022, many Filipinos still love balut and it remains popular in the country.
