In September 2017, Offset, an American rapper, married Cardi B.
Cardi B is a stage name for the American rapper and songwriter Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus, who was born on October 11, 1992. She first became well-known as an influencer on Instagram and Vine. She gained more notoriety after the release of her two mixtapes, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 (2016) and Vol. 2 (2017), which chronicled her pursuit of her musical goals. She appeared as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York from 2015 to early 2017. As for Cardi’s romantic relationships, it is known that she previously dated a rapper named Tommy Geez; however, they broke up after Tommy was sentenced to four years in prison.
When asked about her relationship with Offset, a member of the Migos, she responded:
“I see how hard they work, and that motivates me to work even harder.” “And I see how well things are going for them and how popping it is to be number one, and I’m like, I want that.” “A lot of people just see their jewelry and money, but I don’t think a lot of people see how hard they work for that sh*t every single day.”
Cardi B’s first studio album, “Invasion of Privacy,” debuted at the top of the American Billboard 200 in 2018. As a result of the album’s positive reviews, she became the second female rap artist to have an album nominated for Album of the Year and the first woman to ever win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as a solo artist. She became the second female rapper to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 with a solo song thanks to the lead single, “Bodak Yellow,” and the first to have a song certified as a diamond by the RIAA.
The fourth single, “I Like It,” became the first song by a female rapper to reach multiple Hot 100 number-one positions. Her third Hot 100 number one came as a result of her partnership with Maroon 5 on “Girls Like You.” She became the only female rapper with multiple RIAA diamond-certified songs as a result.
Since then, she has released three singles, the first two of which topped the Hot 100 and other international charts: “WAP” (2020), “Up” (2021), and “Hot Shit” (2022). She is the first and only female rapper to have multiple solo number ones, and she holds several records among female rappers, including the most number-one singles (five) on the Billboard Hot 100. She also leads all female rappers in terms of the number of songs on Spotify, with a billion streams.
She has won numerous awards, including a Grammy, eight Billboard Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, six American Music Awards, 14 BET Hip Hop Awards, and two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year titles. She was listed among the 100 people with the most influence in the world by Time magazine in 2018, and Billboard named her Woman of the Year in 2020. In 2022, she was named creative director of the entertainment publication Playboy.
Cardi and Offset’s first date to Super Bowl LI was in February 2017, which marked the beginning of everything. Offset remarked, “My first date, I went big,” in a 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show. “I wanted to do something that was not normally done, you know what I’m saying?” “I wanted to have fun… so I took her to the Super Bowl.”
“I told my publicist to tell him because I was very shy, ‘Listen, if we are going on a public date together, you cannot make me look like a dumbass after this,'” Cardi said to GQ. “And he was like, “’No, I really like her; I’m really feeling her.’” “We was talking, we was making out.” “We didn’t f—.” Given the couple’s respective power positions, things escalated after the annual event. “After the Super Bowl, it got really serious because I feel like all eyes are on us,” she said in the same interview.
Almost Instantaneously, it became official. In the middle of Power 99’s Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia on October 27, 2017, the rapper from the group Migos got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. She said yes. “I can’t wait to spend FOREVAAAA with you,” Cardi posted on Instagram after the unexpected marriage proposal. “Let’s make a lot of shmoney and love together.”
On Friday, September 18, 2020, the “WAP” rapper spoke openly about her divorce from Offset during an Instagram Live. She didn’t hold anything back or leave anything off the table. Regarding the actual cause of Cardi’s decision to break up with her boyfriend, she said, “I just got tired of f–king arguing.” “I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye.”
“When you feel like it’s not the same anymore before you actually get cheated on, I rather just be…,” She continued by saying, “Nothing crazy out of this world happened.” “Sometimes people really do f–king grow apart.” “I’ve been with this man for four years.” “I have a kid with this man.” In the end, Cardi B decided against going through with the divorce and called it off.
This isn’t the first time the two have put their romance on hold. Cardi B revealed in an Instagram post from December 2018 that she and Offset had split up. Offset begged Cardi to take him back after they broke up. In addition, after confessing to cheating on her, he begged the celebrity’s pardon. Beginning in January 2019, they made the decision to patch things up.
