With football season over, are Swifties flocking to a new sport?
The Taylor Swift effect hit the NFL hard this year, as her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce led to the team gaining all sorts of new fans. The season then ended like a fairytale, with Kelce and the Chiefs hoisting the Lombardi Trophy earlier this month.
Now, a single tweet from Kelce could have Swifties swapping out their helmets for hoops.
In response to Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus hitting a 59-foot game winner to beat the Dallas Mavericks, 121-119, Tuesday night, Kelce − the Cleveland Heights, Ohio, native and University of Cincinnati legend − tweeted: “Straight cash!!! Them boys got the juice right now!!”
This resulted in some Taylor fans wondering if they now have an NBA team to root for.
Considering how this worked out for the Chiefs, Cavs fans seem excited.
Kelce has shown his love for the Cavs in the past, and the team will subsequently have a Kelce brothers bobblehead night March 5 for a game against the Boston Celtics.
The Cavs are 38-19 and No. 2 in the Eastern Conference. The game-winning shot from Strus on Tuesday was the second-longest game-winner in an NBA regular season game since the 1997-98 season.
