Taylor Swift announced that not only has her concert film found a streaming home but that there’s an entirely brand new version that’s going to be released. Here’s what we know about The Eras Tour: Taylor’s Version and its release on Disney Plus.
Taylor Swift has been delivering musical treats one after the other to Swifties around the world — the latest being the announcement that the record-breaking The Eras Tour concert film is set to premiere on the streaming platform Disney Plus.
Swift began the week on 4 February with the announcement of a new album, The Tortured Poets Department, while accepting a Grammy. The same night, her fans saw their icon set a record by winning Album Of The Year for Midnights. The following day, she released the tracklist for the new album, sending her fans scrambling to decipher the meanings in the song titles.
To put it simply, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter has grabbed headlines around the world almost every day in less than a week with the announcements.
“This week is truly the best kind of chaos,” as Swift aptly remarked while making the Disney Plus streaming announcement of her tour on her official Instagram account.
The announcement that the concert film of the iconic The Eras Tour will be available for streaming on Disney Plus was made by Taylor Swift on 7 February.
“I’m thrilled to let you know I’ve found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film, and that home will be @disneyplus,” she said in her Instagram post.
Taylor Swift revealed that the official title of the concert film that will be streamed on Disney Plus shall be Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).
The title makes it slightly different from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the original concert film that was released in theatres or rented digitally.
“For the first time we’ll be showing the entire concert (including “cardigan”, plus 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!!),” Swift revealed, underlining how the streaming film differs from the theatrical version.
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version), the streaming version of Taylor Swift’s concert film, is set to premiere on Disney Plus on 15 March.
The poster, which Swift released on her social media, is mostly the same as that of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, with slight alterations. Instead of the vibrant colours of the original poster, the new image is in muted tones, aligning perfectly with the visual styling of her forthcoming album.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was released in theatres on 13 October 2023.
It grossed over USD 92 million in its opening weekend. By the time its theatrical run was over, the film had earned USD 261.6 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time.
After the end of its theatrical screenings, the film became available online for rent (not purchase) on download stores on 13 December — on the occasion of the singer’s 34th birthday. Its rental fee was set at USD 19.89, marking the year of her birth.
Though the rental price was higher than normal, it reportedly still made money, thanks to Swift’s massive fan base.
CNBC reported that even though terms of the deal were not available, Disney may have faced a bidding war to secure Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).
The prime contenders could have been Apple and Netflix, as Swift has previously collaborated with both giants, alongside Disney, for the release of filmed versions of her concerts and documentary projects.
Taylor Swift has announced that her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, will be released on 19 April 2024. She subsequently released the full tracklist of the album.
The Tortured Poets Department will have a total of 17 songs, including one bonus track. Two of the songs have been recorded in collaboration with Post Malone and Florence + the Machine, respectively.
There may be more coming, which no one can predict — just like no one had a hint of her new album announcement till the moment she made it on the Grammy stage on Sunday night.
Besides the flurry of announcements, her fans are already excited to see her live as part of the ongoing The Eras Tour concert, which, as of 8 February, is set to conclude in December 2024 in Canada.
