Cardi B says she can't be transphobic because she's “a whole bisexual” with “butch women” friends – Queerty

Rapper Cardi B. has waded into the headlines yet against. This time, the artist has clapped back at detractors who continue to claim she is homophobic and transphobic.
Cardi has endured allegations of queerphobia both over her lyrics and over social media posts since rising on the charts two years ago. Most notably, her appearance in Rita Ora’s song “Girls,” which featured lyrics about lesbian relationships titillating men, endured attacks from out-queer artists like Hayley Kiyoko and Kehlani.
At the time, Cardi defended herself by revealing that she’d had “experiences” with women. Now Cardi B. has doubled down on those comments, striking back at Twitter followers who continue to accuse her of homophobia and transphobia.
“I’m not transphobic,” she said recently in a now-deleted tweet. “Ya love dragging that. Have I said some remarks in the past that I apologized for YES I’m from a place that people have closed mindsets so we might not know what insults other or not I never disrespected no trans nor nobody from LGBT.”
When a fan accused her of needing the LGBTQ community to give her style makeovers, she snapped back hard.
“B*tch my sister is gay! My best friends are gay butch women I’m a whole bisexual so wtf are you talking,” she tweeted out.
Cardi B. first topped charts with her rap “Bodak Yellow,” and has since become something of an ironic queer icon. She remains quite outspoken about political issues, having expressed admiration for Senator Bernie Sanders’ Presidential bids, and for harshly criticizing the Trump Administration.
Last month, she made her big-screen debut playing a stripper in Hustlers.

That’s her most notable example of homophobia and transphobia? Appearing on the Girls single? That doesn’t even make any sense.
What caused her “Clap Back”? Was she accused of something new?
She use to drug and rob her tricks, no one of substance cares what she says!
What was her thing in the past? Drugging men and then stealing from them? Whatever “phobia” she may or may not have she’s definitely not what I’d call a good person.
As for the rest, I’m so over gender politics.
Cardi is certainly not the most culturally sensitive or the best when it comes to communication skills. But I don’t think anything she’s said/done reflects any type of “phobias”. Nonetheless, people need to understand that your identities, your social circles, your sex life, your dating life, your romantic/dating preferences- these things often have very little to do with your personal prejudices and biases. So, folks really need to stop pulling out the I’m not entirely hetero/I’m friends with so and so card whenever they get called to the carpet. And I’m pretty certain that just a half year ago Cardi was talking about being a “no labels” person and not being someone who gets wrapped up in identity. So, this recent bi stuff seems like attempt to look like she’s a part of the “clan” and snuff out the unwarranted hostility.
I also don’t have time for self-victimizing “queer” cornballs like Kehlani. She had no right to call out Cardi or anyone else considering that she’s now dating a rapper who has songs with homophobic and “biphobic” lyrics.
Maybe she’s a “no labels” person who hates certain other “no labels” people who just happen to be trans?
Who knows? Oh, the intricacies of Ms Cardi’s mind. I do know that the only thing she’s said that can be considered “transphobic” is when she claimed she’d consider hiring a trans prostitute to hook up with a cheating dude as a way to embarrass him. But she’s said so much ridiculous and ratchet shit. I certainly wasn’t phased. However, trying to put your sexual experiences, your social group and/or your identities out there as a defense is always going to make you look worse. And what she’s saying ain’t got nothin’ to do with not resenting trans people. It seems like some folks really think that claiming to not be entirely hetero and/or cis gender equates to not being homophobic/anti-gay/trans-phobic. And most people know better. It’s the same “but I have a black friend/my grandma is black type arguments. Mere observations not reflections of your morals and levels of respect.

In spite of her having only one notable single and being at best a mediocre rap performer, I kind of like her.
She has a number of notable songs and can rap her *ss off.
One notable single? She’s had several top 10 hits, two of which went #1 which is the most #1 singles from any female rapper.
Will she just go away already? Anything for attention…
