Cardi B had a lot to say during her time alongside David Letterman on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. David Letterman discussed the impact Cardi can have on the next generation, given the size of her platform, especially in a political sense. Cardi stated that she doesn't really use politics in her music, but doesn't shy away from using her huge platform. The artist revealed that even when it appears as though people aren't looking, they are.
“I don’t really put a lot of political things in my music, but I used the f*** out of my platform. “And I have used my platform even when I was a dancer. Because you might think that people are not looking, but they are."
Cardi would go on to reveal that she tries to use her platform as a way to keep her fans in the loop as to what is going on in the world.
“I mean, I’m a hood chick, and I’m from the Bronx,” Cardi went on. “A lot of people relate to me and follow me because they want to see how I’m dressed, they want to see my lifestyle."
“I feel like I have a responsibility to also share to them like, ‘Hey, while you here, and you’re checking my outfit and checking my music, check out what’s going on over here in this part of the world.’”
Given past evidence of Cardi and her opinion on certain political topics, she definitely backed up her words. However, it caught a lot of fans by surprise.
Over on YouTube, fans chimed in to watch the 1:15 snippet posted by Netflix. In that minute alone, fans are blown away by how different Cardi B comes across, especially given her reveal of trying to give political feedback through her social media platforms.

Not only does she use her platform to inform those who may not normally pay attention to U.S. politics, but she is also a VERY caring and generous person. When the pandemic hit, she donated $1 million dollars for people struggling to make ends meet. Cardi teamed up with Fashion Nova to donate $1,000 hourly for over a month to those who requested assistance."
The fan continues, "She also donated a million dollars to fans thru CashApp two months prior to that. Plus, Cardi donated 20,000 meal supplements to New York City medical staffers at the onset of the pandemic."
Another revealed that the interview changed their impression of the artist. "This interview really changed my opinion of her… she’s a lot more intelligent than she gets credit for."
The interview turned a lot of heads but in truth, it was far from the only time Cardi B made a political statement.
Not only has Cardi B made bold political statements, but she also did so along some of the most important politicians in the world. Prior to getting elected, Cardi made a big statement during her interview alongside future President Joe Biden.
She said, "I want Black people to stop getting killed and no justice for it. I'm tired of it. I’m sick of it. I just want laws that are fair to Black citizens and that are fair for cops, too. If you kill somebody who doesn’t have a weapon on them, you go to jail. You know what? If I kill somebody, I’ve got to go to jail. You gotta go to jail, too. That's what I want."
Cardi B also sat down with Bernie Sanders back in 2020 to discuss political issues at the time.
The artist did reveal to taking a break about political conversations in 2021, given the heat she was receiving by Republicans.
"I was tired of getting bullied by the republicans and also getting bashed by the same people I was standing up for," she tweeted.
