Taylor Swift Was Applauded For Going Against Hollywood And Listening To Her "Instincts" For The Eras Tour Film – TheThings

Taylor Swift made a bold choice and went against Hollywood’s norm with her Eras Tour film.
Looking back, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour had it all, and that even included memorable off-script moments. The tour was a highlight of her career, and she also thrived with the Eras Tour film. It became a box office sensation and a major reason for it was Taylor Swift and her vision.
In the following, we're going to take a closer look at why Taylor Swift turned down the potential streaming for The Eras tour. In addition, we'll take a look at Swift's history in Hollywood, and what project she was turned down for in the past. As expected, the film's director regretted his decision.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour film turned out to be a major success and what she called, "the most electric experience of my life." However, there was some doubt at the start.
Swift ended up making a bold decision, going against Hollywood and refusing to stream the film. Swift was applauded for making the bold move, despite the fact that streaming seems to be the norm. Swift bet on herself, and fans clearly showed up.
Taylor revealed, "We met with all the studios and we met with all the streamers, and we sized up how it was perceived and valued, and if they had high hopes and dreams for it," Swift explained.
"Ultimately I did what I tend to do more and more often these days, which is to bet on myself." She revealed it was her father who ultimately suggested the idea, adding, "He just said, why does there have to be a – for lack of a better word – middleman?"
The Eras Tour ended up being an experience Taylor Swift won't ever forget.
“I’ve always had fun doing this. I can’t believe I get to do music as a career. That’s crazy,” she said at the top. “I’ve always had so much fun doing it. I’ve never had this much fun in my life as I have had on The Eras Tour. It is far and away just the most electric experience of my life.”
It was a winning experience for Swift, but looking back at her career in Hollywood, that wasn't always the case.
That's right, Taylor Swift is among the biggest stars in the world, but she was turned down for a major project years ago. Twilight director Chris Weitz admits he "kicked himself for it," turning down the chance to work with Swift on the film.
He revealed with People, "The craziest one of all those was to hear that Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and actually Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, 'Taylor would like to be in this movie – not because of you, but she's a Twi-hard.'" Weitz said.
"'She would be someone at the cafeteria or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie.' The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything," Weitz continued.
Years later, Weitz admitted it was the wrong decision.
"I kick myself for it too, because I was like, 'Wow, I could've been hanging out with Taylor Swift. We could have been friends,'" he said.
There was an added bonus of working with Taylor Swift at the time, and that was how easygoing she was to work with behind the scenes. That was the case when Taylor Swift made her acting debut on CSI.
Actor Jon Wellner explained his experience with Swift on the show. “I went into the makeup trailer, and she was there – and you know, you don’t want to be a fan,” recalls Wellner. “She’s getting her makeup done, and she jumps out of the chair and said, “Henry! That’s my character!” The fact that Taylor Swift knows who I am? I made it! She was with her mom, just so happy to be there, with the perfect attitude."
He continued, "I thought she did an amazing job. If you saw the episode, she really kills it. And that’s what our show is all about. We’re all working together to make a great show. We’re all very professional, but we can all have fun and be friends. We’re all friends outside of the show.”
It remains to be seen if Taylor Swift chooses to continue down the Hollywood road in the future.
