The former couple was sued by the owner of the property where they were staying for an extended period during their relationship
Cardi B and Offset have been in the media spotlight following their break-up after seven years together, and the buzz surrounding the ex-couple has been relentless.
Both have been sued for allegedly not paying rent on the Beverly Hills home they were renting and for leaving the place “trashed”, according to TMZ.
The entertainment media outlet obtained documents stating that the celebrities had been living in the luxurious place since early 2022, but in October they abandoned it without notifying the landlords.
The landlord states that the singers were behind on rent and utilities when they left without notifying him.
Not only that, the landlord accuses them of leaving “significant damage to the property”, including permanent scratches on the floors, carpets and curtains, broken furniture, holes in the walls and burn marks on things like tables, counters and cabinets, TMZ adds.
The cost of the damage amounts to approximately $85,000, as was confirmed in the aforementioned report.
The victim indicates that he has tried on several occasions to resolve the situation with Cardi B and Offset, but to no avail.
TMZ recalls that the property damage lawsuit comes after Cardi B confirmed her breakup with Offset and her return to the single life after she unfollowed him on Instagram.
“I’ve been single for a minute now,” the Dominican singer confessed during a live stream.
She also said she had felt scared to let the news out.
“But I feel like today was a sign. The last time I went live I wanted to tell you, but I didn’t know how to do it,” she detailed.
“I want to start 2024 fresh and open. I don’t know. I’m curious about a new life, a new beginning. And yes, I’m excited.”
