Cardi B and Offset spent an insane amount of money on their daughter Kulture’s fourth birthday.
Despite Cardi B’s impressive net worth of $30 million, her adoring fans still believe she has remained humble due to her decision to live in New Jersey rather than New York City. She also reportedly regularly takes her kids to see where she grew up and spend time with family members.
On July 10, 2022, Cardi and Offset’s daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, turned four. Cardi took to social media to shout out to her daughter on her special day and document the celebrations for her millions of followers. The family of four, including the couple’s youngest child, son Set Wave, visited Candytopia in honor of Kulture’s birthday.
Since her 2018 birth, Kulture has been blessed with several expensive gifts that have led some critics to label her as “spoiled”. And when fans saw what gift Cardi and Offset gave their little one to mark her fourth brithday, the couple faced considerable backlash from social media users.
Offset gave fans an insight into Kulture’s birthday gifts this year when he posted a video to his Instagram story two days after Kulture’s birthday showing her leaning out of the window of a black SUV, holding a huge wad of cash.
Both parents ask their daughter, “What is that?” in the video. Kulture tells them that the stack of cash is “a ticket”, before Offset corrects her: “A ticket is a million, girl. That’s 50. Say, 50!”
Many fans were stunned when they realized he was talking about a gift of $50,000, which Kulture received from her parents for her birthday.
Days before Kulture’s birthday, Cardi B sat down with Vogue Singapore to discuss motherhood, self-worth, and her rise to rap superstardom. In the interview, she opened up about how she is raising her kids not to take their privilege for granted and value hard work.
“They need to know to never feel comfortable,” she said. “Don’t ever feel like, ‘I’m going to get it because I’m Cardi and Offset’s kid’. They are never going to know what struggle feels like, so they might not have that hunger I had to leave the streets.”
The Bronx-born rapper also revealed that she wants her kids to work for things, as they will garner more respect when they achieve things via their own merits.
“Even though my kids are well-off, I want them to know that when you work for things and achieve it, it’s more respected—especially when people see that you bust your a** for it.”
Despite wanting to teach her kids not to get too comfortable, Cardi also wants to give her kids a better life than she had growing up—a natural desire for any parent. The publication points out that Kulture is already enrolled in swim, dance, and private tutoring classes over the summer of 2022.
“Am I doing too much? I just want my daughter to be good,” she shared. “I want her to have a little bit of something forever. I can’t swim, so I want my daughter to be able to swim.”
She added, “I want her to do amazing things when she grows up. She can jet-ski or go on a boat. I want her to be smarter than me—just be the better version of me.”
In response to the interview, some internet users called Cardi out on what they believed to be hypocrisy. “Says the person who just handed her four-year-old $50k for her birthday” tweeted one user. Another claimed that Cardi’s “actions don’t match the words.”
Kulture’s lavish fourth birthday gift wasn’t the first time that Cardi has faced backlash for spending her fortune on opulent presents for her children.
In July 2020, the couple surprised their daughter, who was two at the time, with a Hermès Birkin bag. The Birkin is the most expensive bag in history, with prices ranging from $8,500 to more than $300,000.
Cardi clapped back at those who criticized the gift via her Instagram story. “I hate when people, like, when a celebrity buys their kids jewelry and, like, you know, designer s–t, people be like, ‘Kids don’t care about that. They only care about toys and candy,'” Cardi told her followers.
“Yeah, kids only care about toys and candy—but the thing is, the kids also go outside.” She then added, “Kids go to restaurants, kids go to fancy places. Celebrity kids, they go do red carpets. And if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid.”
According to Us Weekly, Cardi and Offset also faced backlash for Kulture’s third birthday party, which critics called over the top. Kulture arrived at the party in a horse-drawn carriage, where she was blessed with an animal farm and appearances from a number of Disney princesses.
