Pardison Fontaine has established himself as a ghostwriter, scoring major writing credits on longtime friend, Cardi B‘s Invasion Of Privacy album. In a welcome change of pace, Fontaine and Cardi have moved from writing to rapping when the pair released a video to complement their fire new single “Backin’ It Up.”
The video was helmed by director Kid Art who is credited with previously directing visuals for artists like Juelz Santana and Nipsey Hussle. The clip shows the New York natives at bodegas or in abandoned parking lots having a good time. Cardi B shoots heavy, delivering hard-hitting lyrics like: “Ran down on a bi**h/she almost pissed on her leg/Bi**hes think they f**kin’ with me/must be sick in the head.” She also pays tribute to Lil Kim by sporting the red look from the veteran rapper’s “Crush on You” video.
Cardi offered some sweet words to Pardi on Instagram, writing, “Pardi has helped me a lot with my growth and development as a recording artist.I’m really happy to be joining him on his next single BACKIN’ IT UP, which will be dropping later on! ” According to the post, the new mother said the song and video were recorded when she was five-and-a-half months pregnant and very cranky. But the 25-year-old entertainer knew this collaboration would be a hit.
This was before Love and Hip Hop when my IG started blowing up… 😩😂 Me and my nikka @pardi came a long asssss wayyyy. One of our close mutual friends from Newburgh @ashcash_legit put me and @1oo1fm @achontishanise onto his music and we always believed he was going to make it! Pardi has helped me a lot with my growth and development as a recording artist. I’m really happy to be joining him on his next single BACKIN’ IT UP, which will be dropping later on! I did the song and shot the video while I was 5 and a half months pregnant! I was cranky as fuck but I knew that it was going to be a Hit! Hit! Hit!
